Project "Advanced Systems for Early Detection and Prevention of Forest Fires"

Project "Advanced Systems for Early Detection and Prevention of Forest Fires"

The aim of the project is to develop a new generation early forest fire detection system that collects, aggregates and processes data in an integrated information system, crisis prevention and management, using sensor networks and mobile technologies (drones).

The use of unmanned aircraft and new technologies will allow much larger areas to be observed, which will significantly increase the rate of early detection of forest fires in protected areas.

In addition, the probability of occurrence of forest fires in the monitored areas will be calculated during the project, which will expand the capabilities of the existing European crisis prevention system.

Existing forest fire monitoring systems have the drawback of a relatively low detection rate of forest fires (between 23.5% and 30%). In our opinion, the main reason for this is that existing landline systems can not cover and monitor all protected and remote areas, especially those where there is the greatest risk of fires.

The developed system, based on mobile devices (drones), will be able to solve this problem.
